The power of the Gospel is such that it can knock down any gate and blow a hole in any wall. This is the task to which you and I have been called. It is nothing less than to take the Gospel and to use it to knock down gates and to blow holes in walls of Satan’s fortresses. And when we do this, when we knock down a gate or blow a hole in a wall, we create an opening through which someone who has been held captive in Satan’s prison of death and darkness is able to escape into the freedom of light and life in Jesus Christ. Isn’t it time to “Be the Church”? But what does it take for us to be people who are gate crashers? Join us for worship this Sunday at 9:30am.

BAPTISM
Are you interested in being baptized? Baptism is an outward expression of your faith in Jesus. If you would like to be baptized next Sunday during the worship service, please contact one of the pastors.

The book of Ecclesiastes is a written record of King Solomon’s search for meaning in life. In this diary, he chronicles his search for answers to the big questions of life. He has been on a search for meaning, purpose, understanding, and more. The truth is, he takes us on a search for a good time. As he does so, Solomon comes to an amazing insight. From the shepherds we see that we can be filled with peace, even when we feel excluded.  What was it that the angel said to the shepherds as they watched their flocks by night? “Peace.” You may feel excluded. You might feel distanced from God and isolated. You might feel as if you are just a little bit different than everybody else; you are on the outside looking in; that you don’t belong. However, through Christ we can be welcomed home. Please join us on Sunday at 9:30 am for “Welcome Home to Peace.”

From Mary we can see that we can have hope, even when we are afraid. The Christmas message is that there is hope for a ruined humanity—hope of pardon, hope of peace with God, hope of glory—because at the Father’s will, Jesus Christ became poor and was born in a stable so that thirty years later he might hang on a cross. We can be filled with hope. Please join us on Sunday at 9:30 am for “Welcome Home to Hope.”

At first glance, Joseph was very ordinary for his day. And yet there was something about him, something in him, some reason why God the Father chose to place His Son into the home of Joseph. Think of it in these terms. If God decided to send His Son to earth again to be born as a baby, and if He was looking for a suitable home where the child would be properly raised, would yours be in the running? Join us on Sunday at 9:30 am for “Welcome Home to Love.”

Happy Thanksgiving! Of all the things for which we can be thankful, at the top of the list may be: The Lord is my Shepherd. In Psalm 23 David creates two metaphors to describe God’s watchful care over us. The Lord is pictured as a Shepherd who leads us and as a host who provides for us. The end result of all of His activity in our life is that we will be able to say, “I have all I want.” (23:1) This contentment will not only be in this life, but it will also extend into the next (23:6). Join us on Sunday at 9:30am as we learn about the name Jehovah Rohi.

In Luke 14:25-35, Jesus gives two examples demonstrating the wisdom of doing an assessment before moving ahead with plans. Your help is needed in assessing where we are as a church in this time of transition. This Sunday is the last day to return paper copies of the Ministry Insight Tool. The online version will close at midnight on Sunday. Click here to take the survey.

Judges 6-8 contains the account of God raising up Gideon and using him to deliver the Israelites from the oppression of the Midianites. For Gideon to accomplish this dangerous mission, he needed to know God. Gideon needed to come to know God as Jehovah Shalom; “The Lord is Our Peace.” Even in our own lives, we may be in a battle that is strangely similar to what Gideon was facing. In our battle the enemy is sin. However, in this battle with sin, we can come to know God as our Peace. Join us this Sunday at 9:30am as we learn more about the name Jehovah Shalom

THANK YOU

Sunday, November 7, 2021

We are at war. We are foot soldiers in a cosmic conflict pitting the forces of heaven against the forces of hell. We have been called, commissioned and charged to fight for the kingdom. The Christian is not living on the playground, he is living on the battleground. Yet in this war and in the battles we face, we are not alone. We are at war; and in this war God has given us a name which we can call on. His name is Jehovah Nissi! Join us Sunday at 9:30am as we learn more about this name.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS
Don’t forget to turn your clocks BACK 1 hour on Saturday.

MINISTRY INSIGHT TOOL
During a pastoral transition an important part of determining where we need to go is to identify where we are. The Ministry Insight Tool is one way we will seek to discover where we are – which aspects of ministry are going well and where we need to make adjustments. But we need everyone to participate. Please invest a little time and effort in our church by completing the Ministry Insight Tool. Click here to take the survey. Paper copies are also available in the lobby.
